*me and only me*

When I am sad
I try to think of someone
Who will make me happy?
But once I get thinking
I can never think of just
One person.
So many guys,
So many personalities,
So many different thoughts.
But because there is so
Many of everything
I never know what to think
But there is one guy
That sticks out greatly
In my mind
He’s not perfect
He’s not extremely cute
But a major thing is that he’s
A great friend of mine.
He knows when I’m sad
He knows when I’m happy
He can say something
So extremely stupid
But have it be the perfect thing
To say at the moment.
He doesn’t know I have these
Feelings,
And he never will.
And that’s what makes
Me completly sad.
Even with all these other
Guys out there.
I will always wonder
What could have happened?
If he knew how I felt?

Pain
"If it hurts, make it hurt more."
"There is no time to think about how much I hurt; there is only time to run."
"Pain is weakness leaving the body."
"Some people endure pain better than others. All things considered, the ability to withstand—or even deny—pain would seem to be a valuable ally for the long distance runner in search of significant improvement. In truth, it is probably a double-edged sword, since medical experts tell us that pain is the body's warning signal to back off, and that to ignore such schedules is to roll the dice with both body and mind."
"Top results are reached only through pain. But eventually you like this pain. You'll find the more difficulties you have on the way, the more you will enjoy your success."
Pride
We told our guys to hold on for 30 minutes of agony for 12 months of glory.
"I love controlling a race, chewing up an opponent. Let's get down and dirty. Let's fight it out. It's raw, animalistic, with no one to rely on but yourself. There's no better feeling than that."
"What I want is to be number one."
"I ran and ran every day, and I acquired a sense of determination, this sense of spirit that I would never, never, give up, no matter what else happens."
"I feel the earth and the wind and the trees. I feel its spirit. It puts me in the moment. I feel the rhythm of the race. It's like music. When the rhythm gets dissonant and chaotic, it is either a jazzy driving force behind me or demons inside me."
"You have to wonder at times what you're doing out there. Over the years, I've given myself a thousand reasons to keep running, but it always comes back to where it started. It comes down to self-satisfaction and a sense of achievement."
"Some people create with words or with music or with a brush and paints. I like to make something beautiful when I run. I like to make people stop and say, 'I've never seen anyone run like that before.' It's more than just a race, it's a style. It's doing something better than anyone else. It's being creative."
"A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more. Nobody is going to win a 5,000 meter race after running an easy 2 miles. Not with me. If I loose forcing the pace all the way, well, at least I can live with myself."
"Inevitably, there's some official bellowing: "Come on! Run through the chute! Keep it movin'...Keep it movin'!" But you're bent over, gasping, admiring with salt-stung eyes the good, honest mud of battle, the trickle of blood from a spike wound, splattered on your still-quivering legs and too-old (but still lucky) racing shoes. What could be more beautiful?"
Fear
Jogging through the forest is pleasant, as is relaxing by the fire with a glass of gentle Bordeaux and discussing one's travels. Racing is another matter. The frontrunner's mind is filled with an anguished fearfulness, a panic, which drives into pain. No one knows the fear in a front runner's mind more than me. When you set off at a cracking pace for four or five laps and find that your main rivals are still breathing down your neck, that's when you start to panic. I have never been a killer. I'm not an aggressive personality and if I can remember any emotion I felt during a race it was fear. The greatest stimulator of my running was fear. Fear is the strongest driving-force in competition. Not fear of one's opponent, but of the skill and high standard which he represents; fear, too, of not acquitting oneself well. In the achievement of greater performances, of beating formidable rivals, the athlete defeats fear and conquers himself.
Running
Life is short... running makes it seem longer. "Everyone in life is looking for a certain rush. Racing is where I get mine.
Act like a horse. Be dumb. Just run.
"I don't just go out there and run. I like to give people watching something exciting."
Coaches
You must realize one thing. In every little village in the world there are great potential champions who only need motivation, development and good exercise evaluation. It is true that speed kills. In distance running, it kills anyone who does not have it. This is my sport
"Even if you fall flat on your face at least you are moving forward."
School cross country runs started because the rugby pitches were flooded. There was an alternative: extra studying. This meant there were plenty of runners on sports afternoons.
"Hard things take time to do. Impossible things take a little longer."
"If the hill has its own name, then it's probably a pretty tough hill."
"Hills are speedwork in disguise."
"Most men take the straight and narrow. A few take the road less traveled. I chose to cut through the woods."
